Tuesday February 19th Riverside Chiswick - Then and Now Carolyn and Peter Hammond will give a specially prepared presentation on how the riverside in Chiswick, Strand on the Green and Grove Park has changed over time, using images drawn from a range of archives and comparing them with modern day photographs.

Their publication, Chiswick Then and Now, is one of the most popular local history books and the Hammonds are a wonderful source of knowledge about the local area. There will be lots of time allowed for questions and also for people to add their own comments and memories.

Doors open at 7pm, the talk will start at 7.30pm, entrance is free, and light refreshments will be available.

Saturday 23rd February - Public consultation on flood protection in the Thames Estuary in the 21st century

This is an excellent opportunity for you to find out more about the threat of flooding, how this worldwide issue affects us locally and have an input into what we do about it. The Environment Agency has launched a public consultation on the different options for managing flooding along the tidal Thames up to the year 2100. Rachael Hill and other experts from the Environment Agency will spend the day at The Pier House, providing information and finding out what you think (Rachael gave an excellent presentation last October attended by around 100 people).

The Environment Agency team will be at the Pier House between 11am and 4pm. Light refreshments will be available. This event is being organised in partnership with the West London River Group and Thames Strategy (Kew to Chelsea).
