Despite terrible weather in the lead up to Chiswick Pier’s first photo competition, over 60 entries managed to capture the magical summer mood of the Thames in Chiswick. Professional photographer, Karl Grupe, presented the prizes donated by Snappy Snaps Chiswick and entertained the audience with a talk about what made a winning photo at the exhibition of entries at Chiswick Pier House last Saturday.

The entries formed an inspirational display. First prize in the Adult Category was Trenton Oldfield; second was Andy Hawkins; third was Alex Robb. First prize in the Children’s Category was Ben Norvell (age 10); second was Lea Racine (age 7); third was Vincent Racine. There were also 4 Highly Commended entries from Andy Hawkins, Chris Pippard, Fred Taylor and William Wates.

The photos will be displayed soon in an on-line web gallery: information will be on the Trust’s web site at www.chiswickpier.org.uk.

The competition generated such enthusiasm that the Trust has invited Karl Grupe to run a workshop for those wanting a practical introduction to digital photography.

It will run at Chiswick Pier House on Saturday June 28th: contact Karl on 07941373678 to reserve a place and make this the summer you finally come to grips with your camera!
