Author Alan Powers To Give Talk on Eric Ravilious

Chiswick Pier Trust’s monthly series of river-related talks return live to The Pier House, Corney Reach Way, W4 2UG this month.
Author Alan Powers will be presenting “Written on Water: Eric Ravilious, Watercolour, Boats, Rivers and Oceans” at 7pm on Tuesday, 24 January.
In his illustrated talk, Alan will explore the constant theme of water in the work of the war-artist Ravilious, who lived at Chiswick riverside during the 1930s and lost his life in 1942 in a plane off Iceland.
Alan curated the exhibition Eric Ravilious, “Imagined Realities” at the Imperial War Museum in 2003, and has published widely on twentieth century British art, architecture and design.
Copies of his recently released book “Eric Ravilious, Artist and Illustrator” (Lund Humphries, 2013, reissued in paperback 2022) will be available to purchase.
Doors open 6.30pm and refreshments will be on sale before the talk, which will last approximately one hour. Admission to the talk is free for members of Chiswick Pier Trust and £5 for non-members. Tickets can be purchased on the day or can be pre-booked via this link.
