The Chiswick Horticultural Society Summer Show took place at Grove Park Primary School, Nightingale Close on Saturday 16 June.

Despite the inclement weather, over 100 people braved the elements and came to view the excellence of gardeners’ produce from their allotments and gardens. And what an excellent selection they were!

Kurt Berger won The Hawkins Cup for the highest number of points scored in the Show (excluding Domestic & Floral Art) while Elizabeth Cameron won The Thornett Cup for the highest number of points scored in the Domestic Classes.

Des McCrudden won The Chatsworth Vase for highest number of points in the Sweet Pea classes.

A new winner was Lorraine Taylor who swept the board in the Rose classes – winning The Leach Bowl (highest number of points in the Rose classes); The Rose Society Medal and The Orchard Cup (best hybrid tea rose in Show). Aileen Murphy won The Debbie Sutherland Plate for the Alternative Allotment Competition – judged for organic cultivation, use of recycled materials, diversity of plants, encouragement of wildlife and water conservation.

Prizes were awarded by Cllr. Felicity Barwood (ex-Mayor f Hounslow and current Vice-President) of the CHS.
