A two day clean up event was organised to tackle the huge volume of illegal graffiti in a public alleyway called Barnes Passage in Chiswick.

The event took place on 18th and 19th October and was organised by Hounslow Council's Graffiti Officer, Yvonne Lennon, with the help of Community Safety Officer, Kathy Riley.

All of the graffiti in the mile long alleyway was painted over to improve the environmental quality of the area and to reduce the fear of crime. A CCTV camera was placed in the alleyway to assist local Police officers with their enforcement work.

VSO (Volunteer Services Overseas) were keen to be involved and almost 20 young adults, some from Britain and some from Bangladesh, attended on the 19th and worked really hard to complete the job. Several local residents have already expressed their gratitude for the work carried out and are pleased that Hounslow Council is continuing its fight against graffiti.
