Over twenty families have already signed up for an initiative for a community clean-up of Turnham Green this Sunday (27 January).

Local residents and councillors are joining up with the Friends of Turnham Green this weekend. Cllr Ron Mushiso says their hope is to make these clean-ups a regular event on the last Sunday of each month with other groups getting involved and other local parks benefiting.

He added, “It is purely voluntary and anyone can attend - but at the back of our minds is notion that we look to appeal to young people in developing their sense of community and civic pride. In it we want to educate them about looking after their environment.

“This was inspired by the great custodian work of organisations such as Friends of Turnham Green, Gunnersbury & West Chiswick Society and Friends of Chiswick Common & Mid-Chiswick Society.”

He and his colleague on the Council, John Todd, plan to be there this weekend.

Christ Church on Turnham Green have added their support by circulating the information to their congregation.

Hounslow Highways are providing basic equipment on the day but you are encouraged to pack a spare pair of gloves just in case.

If you would like to help out meet at Christ Church Turnham Green. The plan is to work for around an hour starting at 2pm and then take refreshments at a venue to be decided at 3.30pm.
