Artists at the Pavilion

Dukes Meadows

September 16th 12- 6 pm

To coincide with a visit from the Duke of Devonshire, The Friends of Dukes Meadows have secured permission from Hounslow Council to mount a one day exhibition in the Sports Pavilion building, on the site of the Chiswick farmers market.

The Sports Pavilion is a unique late Victorian building, originally the market store and then subsequently a park keepers flat and changing rooms.

As a result of the cutbacks in the late 1970s Dukes Meadows lost its park keeper and the building and area have fallen into decline.

Peter Blake has kindly agreed to open the exhibition for us. We are lucky to have a talented and diverse group of local artists to showcase this inaugural exhibition. The building itself has enormous potential to become a centre for artists and the local community.

It is hoped that with the council's help we could create revenue from the building that would enable us to implement the development plan, which will be on display on the day. Areas such as Dukes Meadows are under threat from inappropriate development all over London and we hope that the exhibition will awaken a wider interest from the local community.
