Ann Keen MP joined Chiswick Churches for Trade Justice on Friday 2nd March to celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight and welcome Casildo Quispe, President of the Coinapa Brazil Nut Producers Co-operative in Bolivia.

Casildo Quispe helped set up Coinapa, which improved the quality of life for rural and indigenous families in Bolivia. Quispe spoke of the benefits for producers and their communities working with the Fairtrade Foundation, and the difference it has made to hard-working people in his community.

Ann Keen MP welcomed Casildo Quispe to the Borough of Hounslow and was able to tell Mr Quispe of Hounslow’s campaign to become a fair-trade borough.

She re-enforced her commitment to the fair-trade campaign saying, “I continues to urge residents and businesses in the borough to buy fair-trade products where possible. We must continue to work to secure fair-trade status for our borough. Not only are we supporting people around the world, ensuring they receive a fair wage and fair treatment, the products are also excellent.”
