A newly-formed group of Chiswick volunteers want locals to help them "raise the roof" with a concert and raffle for cancer research next week.

The group, which includes cancer survivors and people who have lost loved ones to the disease, have organised an evening of local music acts including jazz, indie, and even an opera duo for the event, which will take place on Thursday, November 16th in the George IV at 7 p.m.

Tickets cost £10 and the money will go to Cancer Research at the Hammersmith Hospital.

The concert will feature Rory Thompson (acoustic solo Indie), The Operatunists (acoustic operatic cover music), Jules Bannister (cover artist pop ballads) and The Pieces (5 piece indie band). Ben Forster will compere the evening.

Local businesses have come on board to donate prizes for the auction including a £ 1,000 voucher for a House Sale from estate agent Oliver Finn ( the normal fee is £6,000), as well as a Meal for Two at Sam's Brasserie, and a Meal for Two at Cote. Other items in the auction include a London Wasps voucher, a 2011/12 Arsenal signed shirt, a signed and framed photo of Lewis Hamilton, and a House Window Clean.

Four tickets to Headliners at the George IV and a Le Creuset meal are also on offer.

It is the first event organised by the group, Raise the Roof, and they are hoping for a good show of local support.
