Our Lady of Grace & St Edward host The Chiswick Summer Fair on Saturday 10th July on Turnham Green.

With just three weeks to go, they need your help.

DONATIONS

Please donate:
• Toys, games and jigsaws
• Books, CDs and DVDs
• Handbags (new, nearly new, good as new)
• Perfume, candles and soaps
• Unwanted Gifts
• Jewellery (valuable items will be professionally appraised)
• Bottles of wine and spirits, beer

We can’t accept:
• Electrical appliances
• Clothes or textiles
• Shoes, hats or belts
• Broken or incomplete items

Please do not leave items at the back of the church!

It is now just three weeks until the Summer Fair and the weather and the pace is hotting up! We are gratefully accepting any donations of items to sell at the fair.

Please drop off your items any Sunday from 2pm to 4pm at The Parish Centre.

Alternatively, you could just come along and help us to sort and shift the stuff. Your donations and generosity last year helped the fair raise nearly £20,000 for local charities.

This year’s major beneficiaries will be Acton Homeless Concern, Nazareth House and the Hounslow Extra Club. Monies raised will also go to Hounslow Furniture Project, a local Cystic Fibrosis group, Cedars and the Tommy Hollis Charitable Fund.

Thank you for having estate agent boards!
Edward D'arc boards advertising the fair have now gone up. They are great for advertising the fair and raise sponsorship money too.

Gazebos
We have so many stalls this year that we need more gazebos! Do you have a spare one you can lend us for the day? Please contact Vanessa Kingsmill

Calling all cooks and bakers!
Now is the time to start thinking about what you can cook and bake for the World
Food and Tea Tents. We need your tasty treats! Please contact Sally Hopgood

Roll out the barrel
Well, we would if we had one! We need a tombola barrel for the bottle stall. If you have one in your shed please let us know.

Bend it like Beckham
We are looking for teams and players for the Summer Fair Football Tournament. The tournament is for boys and girls between 8 and 11 years old.

Any team coaches who would like to enter a team, or the parents of any children who are not part of a team but who would like to play.

Have you got the bottle?
Because we haven’t! We only have had a few bottles donated so far. We are desperate for more bottles - you can hand them in at the Parish Office weekdays as well as at the Sunday 2pm to 4pm drop offs.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!

Volunteers’ meeting 8 pm Thursday 24th June at The Parish Centre
Put the date in your diary if you are helping at the fair. This is your chance to meet the organisers, ask questions and be briefed on the practical aspects of the day and sign up! It will only last until 9.30pm.

These are the areas where we especially need your help:

Build up on Friday and Saturday – we need volunteers to help collect tables / chairs / stall items for the bric-a-brac and bring them to the green for setup.

Build up on the Saturday morning – we need 4 pairs of helpers who will help us to erect the 4 marquees that we have borrowed for the day – they are easy to do but just need volunteers to speed up the process (all the bigger marquees are built the night before by the company we hire from). Ideally these would be put up between 8 and 9 am on the Saturday morning to allow us enough time to then set up the tents.

Rubbish management – we need a team of 8 people to volunteer to work on a rota basis collecting the rubbish from each area and placing it in the skip. If you are happy to do a shift then please let us know!

Breakdown after the fair – we need a team of volunteers to help pack everything down and transport it back to its rightful place. The more people that volunteer to help the quicker we will be. If you are happy to help please let us know!

Kids’ corner – we have some great rides booked this year but we need people to help collect the money – we need a team of 9 people that will work on a 2 hour rota to man the 3 feature areas to ensure we raise the most money for the charities

Man and a van - Can you help with moving stuff in your van on the day of the fair?

Auction items
We are busy finalising the auction list. Once this is done, the auction will ‘go live’ on the www.chiswickw4.com website probably in one week’s time. Like last year, the formal auction will take place during the middle of the fair not at the end. Next week we will be releasing the full list of auction items but here is a taster of the lots:

• Porsche Boxster car for a weekend
• 1 week cookery course for 2 at Leith’s Cookery School
• Hamper from Gail’s bakery
• Hamper from Waitrose,
• Volvo car of your choice for a long weekend

Raffle tickets

Raffle tickets are now available from the parish office. From next weekend onwards we will be setting up tables and selling them outside the church. If you would like to help in this please do get in touch or just turn up outside the church near the end of masses.

We hope that you will take some raffle tickets to sell to your family, friends and colleagues. They are an important source of funds for the fair. We have some great prizes again this year. These are just some them:

1st prize: A Nintendo DSi
2nd prize: Leith's Cookery School course for 1 week
3rd prize: A weekend for 4 at a Fullers Hotel
4th prize: A Crown & Anchor meal voucher
5th prize: Fuller's Brewery Tour for 6 people
6th prize: £100 cash
