One will be a Live Auction during the Ball itself, conducted by one of this country's top auctioneers. There is also a 'silent' Online Auction, bidding for which will begin on January 26th, to be concluded during the Ball itself, at Midnight.

Some amazing new items have been donated to the auction including:

* 14 Carat Le Vian White Gold Butterfly Pendant

* A Night at the Corinthia

* A Week in Aldeburgh for Nine

* An Original, Framed Axel Scheffler Sketch

* Work Experience at Harpers Bazaar/Esquire

Tickets for the ball for a three-course dinner with wine are priced at £75.

Mardi Gras celebrations date back to Roman times.
The Romans’ Lupercalia festival was held in mid-February to honour the god of fertility and agriculture, Lupercus. During the Crusades a carnival like Lupercalia became the last fling of over-indulgence before the 40 day Lenten period of penitence. The Ball will have the spirit of carnival, and be themed in the official colours of Mardi Gras: purple, green and gold. Guests will be encouraged to wear masks bangles and beads, and above all, to enjoy themselves.

There will be regular updates on items and latest bids. If yours is the highest bid, you may pay for the item by cheque, or BACS transfer, or credit card (for a small fee). When payment is cleared, the item will be available for collection from St Michael & All Angels Parish Office.
