Broadcast from New York's Mercury Theatre in 1938, this infamous radio play, based on the novel by H. G. Wells, had many terrified listeners convinced that an actual alien invasion of Earth was taking place.

Adapted by Howard E. Koch, co-writer of Casablanca, and directed and narrated by Orson Welles, this original script details the frightening tale of an extra-terrestrial takeover is now available to bring to life onstage.

St Michaels Players’ are now planning a live radio play performance of their version of Orson Welles’ adaptation of H.G. Wells’ "The War of the Worlds".

They say, "A metaverse play for these metaverse times, it’s a thrilling take on Orson Welles’ attempt to hoodwink an entire nation. Is there life on Mars? Are we alone in the universe? What is truth, and what is fiction? Come join us for a night of thrills, chills and laughter."

It takes place at St Michael’s Centre, Elmwood Road, Chiswick, W4 3DY from 30 March to 2 April with performances beginning at 7.45pm and doors opening 30 minutes before curtain.
