The dense fog which hung over much of the South East on Wednesday (Dec 11th) created a spectral atmosphere over Chiswick.

Flights at Heathrow were disrupted as visibility was so poor for much of the day and travellers faced difficulties as it lingered for much of the day.

The eerie beauty of the fog, particularly around Strand on the Green was captured by local photographers as our picture gallery shows.

Ian Wylie was out with his camera before dawn and captured this image of Kew Bridge of glowing street lights penetrating the fog just as London was waking up to get to school and work. The red double-decker bus a splash of colour.

However he wasn't the only one capturing the scene as fellow photographer Jon Perry was also out and about with his camera.

Jon captured this image of a ghostly tree by the river before taking the picture (below) of the early morning start of the working day- again at Kew Bridge.

Chiswick High Road looked spooky as the 27 Chalk Farm bus loomed out of the fog early in the morning.
