The Friends of Turnham Green are urging local residents to come down and see the new wild flower meadow which they have helped create.

Jan Hewlett, for the Friends of Turnham Green, says " The wild flower meadow on Turnham Green is full of life, helped on by the recent warmer weather. The bumblebees are having a feast amongst the cornflowers and corn chamomile daises, and a scattering of corn marigold and poppies adds an extra dash of colour. A footpath has been cut through so you can get up close to enjoy the flowers while they are at their best and a team of local people has been helping to clear some of the less desirable weeds."

The meadow is the first of a series of planned improvements on Turnham Green led by the Friends of Turnham Green, working in partnership with London Borough of Hounslow, John Laing and sons, Groundwork Thames Valley and Hickman Brothers Landscape. As a result of the new initiatives, The Green has also been awarded a Green Flag Award for the second year running.

The next stage, restoration of the rockery, will start in early autumn. More ideas are in the pipeline, and the Friends will be holding an open meeting in the autumn to encourage a wide cross section of the local community to participate in developing the masterplan for the park.
