Grove Park residents hope to get their own ' piazza' to link the Station House pub with the parade of shops and create a social focal point for the area by extending the room outside the cafe for customers.

The first phase of this has been the planting of trees along the railway line fence to help provide help provide a more enclosed and defined space, an idea mooted by the local Grove Park Group (GPG).

The second phase, which is not yet agreed, is a project to widen the pavement to make it less cramped and allow the cafe to spread its tables out. The parking bays would be retained and moved back, and the tarmac would be replaced by paving to create a a ‘piazza’ shared by traffic and pedestrians. This has not yet been sanctioned by Hounslow Council but the local Grove Park Group is hoping to have talks on this shortly.

The idea was first proposed by the GPG as part of a series of improvements to the roads and public realm in the area. A spokesman for the GPG said they were very pleased with the trees and said that Hounslow Highways and Hounslow traffic had done a very high quality job. Local councillor Sam Hearn helped by submitting the application for funding for the project.

Phase Two of the project is a more capital intensive project for which funding will be required.
