Award Winning Children's Author Visits Local School

Beverly Naidoo was welcomed by Grove Park primary

Grove Park Primary School were delighted to welcome award winning children’s author Beverly Naidoo to school on Wednesday 21 February.

As part of Grove Park’s contextualised and creative curriculum, learning is placed into practical and real life contexts. Year 6 children are currently studying her novel ‘The Other Side of Truth’ in English lessons and it offered a unique insight into her work.

Beverly is the author of numerous children’s novels that grapple with issues of humanity. The novel charts the plight of two children escaping the oppression of a Nigerian dictator and then their arrival in London.

Children shared some of their own writing with Beverly and were able to ask her many questions which had inspired her writing of the novel. Beverly signed numerous copies of her books and was delighted with the quality of work and questions asked by Grove Park pupils.
