An increase in the volume of train arrival announcements at Gunnersbury tube station has residents up in arms.

TfL recently carried out engineering adjustments and locals say that as a result, the female recorded voice is now at a level high enough to annoy people.

One resident has posted a letter through doors locally complaining that the announcements go on for twenty hours a day, from the first train at 5.45 until 2am.

One local told chiswickw4.com. "I work at the back and with the window open I can hear the announcements, the volume has increased and for anybody sleeping at the back it must be a real pain if the noise starts early in the morning.

"There’s no need for the extra decibels in fact there’s no need for the announcements as there are perfectly good destination indicators"

We have asked TfL for comment.
