A new charity shop is to launch in Chiswick offering free books to the public.

Healthy Planet which will open at 263, Chiswick High Road (beside the bridal shop, close to Barley Mow) will offer a choice of up to three books for free.

Their first event will be on July 9th, and they are inviting the public to come along.

The organisation is inviting people to donate, swap or take away up to three books for free at the Books For Free centre in Chiswick.

Books for Free, a Healthy Planet initiative, redistributes pre-loved, donated books to one of 32+ centres in the UK. To date, this initiative has prevented over 2.5 million books from ending up in landfill.

They create volunteer run pop-up centres in otherwise empty retail units breathing life into the local high streets, fostering community spirit and encouraging literacy.

Shaylesh Patel, founder of the charity Healthy Planet, says:
“Most people don’t realise that books can’t be recycled and therefore end up in landfill. By reducing the amount of waste and helping recycle valuable resources, residents, councils and landlords all gain”.

They are now looking for volunteers to help out at the shop and would welcome donations of preloved children’s books.
