Chiswick restaurant Hedone has featured in the Top 100 Restaurants of the World.

The restaurant, which opened two years ago, comes in 70th place, and is one of only a handful of UK establishments chosen. The others include Heston Blumental's Dinner, (at number seven), which is located in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Knightsbridge, The Ledbury, at number thirteen, and The Fat Duck, at number thirty-three, another Heston Blumental establishment.

The coveted top spot announced today (April 30) goes to El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, owned by the Roca brothers, which has knocked Denmark's Noma from the number one position it has held for three years.

Hedone chef/patron Mikael Jonsson was awarded a Michelin star for Hedone only fourteen months after he opened.

Swedish-born Jonsson, a former lawyer who wrote a food blog under the pen name Degusto, opened Hedone (the name taken from the Greek word for 'pleasure') promising to give a dining experience based on the best quality produce. He had never worked in a professional kitchen before opening his own restaurant.
