Several Chiswick residents have been presented with awards for their contribution as 'local heroes' in community, for voluntary work which ranged from bereavement counselling, to organising the local dog show, local history projects, community gardening, resident's groups and even writing the news for this website.

The awards were presented at a ceremony at the Civic Centre, Lampton Road, by the Mayor of Hounslow, Cllr Ajmer Grewal, in one of her last events before retiring as Mayor, in the presence of the Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Maria Pedro and Chiswick councillor John Todd. The chair of Hounslow Council, Cllr Steve Curran was also present.

"Many of the recipients have worked long hours in charities or voluntary groups. They have gone the extra mile for their community and deserve to be recognised for their contribution" commented Cllr Todd.
