More than 80 local residents packed St Michael and All Angel’s Church Hall for the Inaugural Meeting of the Bedford Park Residents’ Association recently. Up for discussion was the proposed objectives and priorities of the new Association, which covers the area of Bedford Park and its environs.

Hugh Johnson, Acting Chair, presented the results of an initial survey carried out amongst local Bedford Park residents, which showed a high level of support for the new Association. Residents cited many local issues on which this new body could take a leading role, from the state of pavements and roads and rubbish collection, through to a new potential runway at Heathrow Airport.

The meeting also heard from John Trotter, Chairman of Stamford Brook Residents’ Association who gave useful insights into the benefits and challenges of such an organisation. This was followed by a few words from local resident, Angie Bray, MP for Ealing and Acton, whose constituency covers a large part of Bedford Park.

She welcomed the formation of the new Association, stating, “As a local resident I am delighted we now have a new forum to work on important issues to complement the work already done by the Bedford Park Society. And as the local MP, I know I will also find the new Residents' Association a really useful new organisation that will keep me in close touch with many of my constituents."

After a lively Q and A, in which a member of the Bedford Park Society expressed possible areas of collaboration, Hugh Johnson brought the meeting to a close.
