Strand-on-the Green postmistress Mrs. Daksha Joshi attended the Royal Garden Party in Buckingham Palace yesterday (May 22) and met Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.

She was invited to the garden party as a recipient of the British Empire Medal in this year's New Years Honours List.

Mrs. Joshi attended the event with her son Milan (pictured above) and commented: "It was a most delightful afternoon. We enjoyed it thoroughly and it was a great honour to attend the party. I have tremendous respect for The Queen and the work she does. She is the pillar of the nation."

They also spotted several members of the Royal family including the Queen and Prince Philip who had tea in the Royal Tent. The Duchess of Cambridge also attended the garden party.

Mrs. Joshi received her British Empire Medal for her services to the community at a recent ceremony in the Tower of London. She was given her medal by Sir David Brewer, the Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London.
