ITV were filming in the streets of W4 recently for the upcoming series of Lewis

The crime drama stars Kevin Whately, Laurence Fox and Angela Griffin as detectives Robbie Lewis, James Hathaway and Lizzie Maddox respectively, as they investigate murders within Oxford, and will be showing its ninth season, having become one of ITV’s more successful dramas.

The TV channel required a number of extras for these residential-street shots, and so requested help from local residents. They have been involved in filming all-day (7th August), and one Chiswick resident told of his excitement at the prospect at being involved in the high-profile drama.

Executive producer Michele Buck said, “I am thrilled to be making a ninth series of Lewis, one of ITV’s best-loved dramas. Against the beautiful backdrop of Oxford, Lewis and Hathaway will once again investigate the city’s darkest crimes.”

Filming has been taking place around Speldhurst and Fielding Roads, where the production crew have requested a large number of parking spaces to be vacated. This is to allow lorries and filming equipment to be placed in the area, and has caused some disruption to local residents, with bays even being taken on Rusthall Avenue.

A local resident described how cars were being forced to park far away, with spaces available on a ‘first-come-first-served’ basis, while another said that the lorries and a generator had been left overnight, which was not originally described in the warning letter given by ITV.

ITV’s location assistant Pete Wimblett said, “I fully appreciate that there may be a degree of inconvenience during our visit for which I apologise in advance but please rest assured that we will do our best to keep any disruption to an absolute minimum.”

Lewis is the latest in a slew of programmes to film in Chiswick, such as Miranda in 2012 .
