The Liberal Democrat candidates for the Hounslow Borough 2014 council elections in the Brentford and Isleworth parliamentary Constituency have been announced. Three candidates, one for each ward, will run in Chiswick.

Phyllis Ballentyne (Chiswick Riverside) is a resident in the Kew Bridge area and has recently been working in the careers department of an inner London secondary school. Phyllis is keen to build on the Liberal Democrat achievements of the past four years as part of the coalition, in particular by making taxes fairer, so that those on low incomes do not have to pay tax. With her eldest granddaughter attending primary school in Brentford, she wants to see that every child gets a fair start in life with smaller class sizes and more money targeted at those needing extra help in lessons.

Charles Rees (Chiswick Homefields) is a retired barrister who has lived in Chiswick since 1981. He wants Britain to have a fairer economy and a fairer society based on Liberal Democrat principles. At Westminster Lib-Dem principles are already seen in action with the Coalition Government relieving millions of people from paying income tax, and introducing smaller class sizes in schools, he says. "Liberal Democrats on Hounslow Council would apply those same principles. "That means wise spending of council taxpayers' money, seeking to preserve our parks and green spaces, tackling dangerous levels of air pollution in our borough and looking to create new jobs and expand public transport."

Bill Gewanter (Turnham Green) has lived in Chiswick for almost 20 years. He believes strongly in a free and fair society as well as the preservation of the character of our local area in the face of budgetary constraints and the planned expansion at Heathrow. A former student of Belmont Primary School who went on to study Medicine at Oxford University, he has extensive involvement with local GPs and care homes. This has provided him with the necessary experience to ensure that patients remain at the heart of health services in the Borough in a time of great change and upheaval in the structure of the NHS.
