The new academic year got off to a flying start for children at Ravenscourt Park Preparatory School when a Royal Navy Lynx Helicopter made a surprise landing in Ravenscourt Park today, Friday (6th September).

Antony Rimington, Royal Navy Commander and parent at the school, organised a day the children will never forget.

Despite the wet weather the children were out in force to greet the helicopter as it arrived from its base in Somerset. Year group by year group the children listened to a presentation by the crew and had the chance to try the flying suits on for size before taking a tour of the inside of the helicopter and waving it off at the end of the day.

The day was expertly supported by the Parks Constabulary and Community Support Officers. One pupil summed the day up perfectly, “It was the best day at school ever. I don’t want to go home!”
