Nimmo, the Italian leather bag and shoe shop in Devonshire Road, will close at the end of March.

Owner Sheila Nimmo who has been trading in Chiswick for thirteen years said a high increase in rent was behind her decision to shut the store.

Independent traders in Chiswick have repeatedly complained that high rent and rates are putting them under pressure in a challenging economic climate.

Sheila Nimmo said that she intended to sell shoes online in future. She previously owned a similar shop in Fulham and decided to open in W4 because many of her customers came from Chiswick.

"I've enjoyed my time here and made a lot of good friends but I'm telling my customers now that I will take the shoes business online, though not the bags".

There is currently a sale on at the shop.

Nimmo Shoes was founded in 1994 and all their handbags and shoes are manufactured in Italy and are 100% genuine leathers and their loafers are all hand stitched in the traditional Italian manner.
