As the buds and blossom burst out in Bedford Park, local gardeners' thoughts are turning again to Open Gardens. This extremely popular event takes place on the last afternoon of the Bedford Park Festival – this year on Sunday 23 June 2013 from 2pm to 6pm.

The organisers are hoping as usual to have a wide variety of gardens to visit - large and small, traditional and contemporary, formal and relaxed. They have regular contributors but say it is lovely to present new gardens, or those that have not been seen for several years.

"Perhaps you have had a recent makeover, or you think your garden is looking particularly good this year. Maybe you know of a hidden horticultural gem in the area or can recommend someone else’s garden. If so, please do get in touch with us", they say.

"We are not looking for perfection but simply for gardens that in their own way are lovely, special or interesting. And remember, taking part raises funds for local charities, as well as being great fun and an excellent way to meet the neighbours!"
