Conservative candidate for Mayor of London, Zac Goldsmith,  has called on Transport for London (TfL) to prioritise improving the Piccadilly Line service to Turnham Green.

He also backed the consultation that saw more than 14,000 responses to Tfl's consultation on stopping the Piccadilly Line service at Turnham Green station.

TfL has pledged that the Piccadilly Line services will stop at Turnham Green, but only after the completion of the line upgrade in the early 2020’s. This has not satisfied local campaigners, who want action fast-tracked.

“Businesses rely on good transport infrastructure for their trade, and London needs a properly integrated transport system that means better, faster and more reliable services for all Londoners” said Mr. Goldsmith, who joined local councillors on a tour of Chiswick High Road and met with local businesses ahead of Small Business Saturday.

Currently the Piccadilly Line trains only stop at Turnham Green from 0529 -0650 Monday to Saturday & 0623- 0745 on Sunday; and from 2230 until close of service.

“Small businesses like those on Chiswick High Road are the lifeblood of the London economy and a vital part of our community.

“If elected as Mayor I will do whatever I can to back small business and help create an environment for them to thrive.
