Some weeks ago local residents Tracey Logan and her husband Richard Szwagrzak wrote an article for chiswickw4.com on their campaign to buy plastic-free food and drink in Chiswick.

The article was widely read and their efforts won praise from local readers, many of whom have been inspired to try it out themselves. Now you can hear an audio diary of how they coped on BBC Radio Four's The Sunday Programme on Easter Sunday, broadcast at 7.10am but available on BBC I Player also.

Tracey and Richard were inspired to change their lifestyle after watching the series Blue Planet and seeing the long-term environmental harm caused by our addiction to plastic packaging. Hear how they dug out their string bags, and glass milk bottles and went around local shops talking to traders about the necessity for customes to be allowed to use their own containers.

They were delighted with the reaction from local traders and are now fully committed to a life as free from plastic packaging as possible.
