The West London Post Card Club has organised a talk on Friday 21st November 2014 at Chiswick Town Hall on the theme of:  'Chiswick: From Riverside Village to London Suburb'.

The talk will be given Andrea Cameron, local historian.

Chiswick began as a riverside village dependent on fishing and farming.  The large houses on Chiswick Mall span the 15th to 20th centuries.  Regular stagecoach services along the road west across Turnham Green led to many public houses lining Chiswick High Road.  Later the railways brought more shops and housing developments.  By 1900 Chiswick was a London suburb.

In addition, the annual postcard competition will take place. Before and after the talk, postcards from the club’s own stock will on sale.

Visitors and new members welcome.

Doors open at 7.15 for 8pm.  Entry: members £1.50, non-members £3.
