Significant disruption is expected in the Chiswick area this Sunday (29 July) due to road closures for the PrudentialRide London cycling event.

The A4 will be closed westbound between Hammersmith and the Hogarth Roundabout. Chiswick Bridge and Burlington Lane will be closed in both directions.

The roads will be closed from 5am and it is anticipated that they would reopen at 2.45pm.

The A4 eastbound between Hogarth Roundabout and Warwick Road at Earls Court remains open throughout the day. Roads adjoining the event routes will have local access only for residents and businesses, with usual Sunday parking restrictions unless otherwise stated.

A number of bridges in central London will be closed until the evening. Hammersmith Bridge and Kew Bridge will be open but are expected to be busy. Wandsworth Bridge will be open for local
resident access only (no through route).

Cyclists in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100, 46 and Classic events will pass through west London on the outbound route, from Hyde Park Corner to Chiswick Bridge, and again on the inbound journey towards the finish, crossing Putney Bridge and travelling along Chelsea Embankment.

Amateur cyclists are expected to start passing through the Chiswick section of the race at around 6.20am and the peloton for the professional race should appear near Hogarth Roundabout shortly after 1.55pm. As the pro race coincides with the final stage of the Tour de France few well known names are expected to participate.

On Sunday 29 July the following events will take place in London and Surrey:

  • Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 - 25,000+ amateur cyclists will take on a 100-mile cycle challenge through the closed roads of London and Surrey before finishing on The Mall
  • Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 46 - a new event over 46 miles within the existing 100 mile challenge which has been designed as an introductory event for amateur riders, also starting at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and finishing on the Mall
  • Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic - professional male cyclists will compete in this one-day race through London and Surrey. The race starts at Horse Guards Parade, St James's Park before heading into Surrey and returning to the Capital to finish on The Mall
  • Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 19 New for 2018, this 19-mile ride starts at Sandown Park and finishes on The Mall.

On Saturday 28 July, spectators will be able to watch the following events in London:

  • Prudential RideLondon Classique - see the world's best female cyclists compete in this UCI World Tour race.
