The new planning application to build a new cinema in the centre of Chiswick has been submitted raising hopes that films could be shown there as early as next year.

The cinema remain the same size as the original applicationwith five screens but approval was also being sought for three two-bedroom flats, "to make better use of the site".

Picturehouse received planning permission for an earlier application in 2014 and had hoped to open in January 2015 but progress on the project was delayed. They are not the applicant this time, rather it has been submitted by Lochstill Ltd who are the freeholder of part of the site.

Kim Gottlieb of Lochstill said that this definitely did not mean that Picturehouse were no longer involved in the project and that it remained the intention that they should operate the cinema. Picturehouse will be responsible for the construction of the facility.

He added, "We are delighted with the support there has been for this proposal and we are hopeful that this will quickly translate into a planning permission."

At the time of writing the detailed plans were not available through the Hounslow planning portal but is understood that the layout and size of the cinema remains substantially unchanged from the original application. Picturehouse are hoping that it will be open to the public by Christmas 2017.
