Children from Strand-on-the-Green Infant and Nursery school marked Remembrance Day by creating their own field of ceramic poppies. The idea was inspired by the exhibition at Tower Bridge which has attracted millions of viewers.

Children planted their hand-made poppies and enjoyed a quiet moment of reflection having learned about World War One as part of their work in the classroom. Children and staff observed the traditional two-minute silence.

Every year the school has a tradition of visiting the Richmond Poppy Factory. This year the School Council were privileged to visit on Remembrance Day and were able to observe the two minute silence at 11 am inside the Richmond Poppy Factory, alongside the workforce.

This was the ninth successive year that School Council have visited the factory and helped to make next year’s poppies.

The School also hosted the exhibition 'Heroes of Chiswick' loaned by St Michael’s Church, Elmwood Road which has been on display in the Church for several months. The exhibition was very much enjoyed by the whole school community.
