Chiswick High Road had to be closed to traffic yesterday as an operation was mounted to help two teenage boys who got stuck on the roof of a cafe.

At just before 5pm, two boys of about 16 years of age were seen on the roof of Costa Coffee, opposite Chiswick police station.

They appeared to have climbed up, got stuck and were not able to get down.

The Fire Brigade was called and arrived about 5.45 pm. Buses and cars were diverted and the road was closed off so that the brigade could bring in their 'cherry picker' appliance to lift the boys off the roof. Police officers interviewed a number of teenagers in the area.

The two boys were taken home and were unhurt in the incident.
