The University of London's Women's crew, based in Hartington Road, Chiswick, beat Oxford University's Boat Race crew on Sunday. As part of Oxford preparations for this year's University Boat Race against Cambridge they raced the University of London (UL) over the Championship Course from Putney to Chiswick.

The racing took the form of three five minute races. UL won the first and third races with the second race called a draw. UL put out a strong crew, made up of many international athletes, including Chiswick resident Charlotte Hodgkins-Byrne, who last summer was crowned U23 World Champion.

UL will next be in action on the 17 February, against Cambridge's women. And then UL's men race Cambridge Uni. on the 18 February and Oxford Uni. on the 3 March.
