Chiswick Sainsbury’s Store Manager Ujjwal Kaushal welcomed the New Mayor of Hounslow, Tony Louki to the 150th Birthday celebrations of the company at the Chiswick Superstore on Saturday. It was the Mayor's first official engagement since his appointment last week.

The Mayor was joined by Local Conservative Councillor Ron Mushiso (Turnham Green Ward) and Council Leader Steve Curran.

Shoppers and other onlookers were treated to two performances by a talented group of young students from the local Chiswick Theatre Arts School. This was followed by an impromptu rendition of Happy Birthday to Sainsbury’s led by the Mayor Tony Louki before the cutting the birthday cake to officially mark 150 years of Sainsbury’s supermarkets.

The Mayor commented ‘ It was pleasure to don the former Brentford and Chiswick chain and badge, enjoy the performers and chat to customers. Also a great honour to meet and talk to Sainsbury's staff, a diverse bunch in every way, both front and back of the store. I very much welcome their ideas and support for my charities this coming year."
