Locals in Chiswick did a double take when they spotted a newly-erected sign from Hounslow Highways.

The sign (pictured below) was placed just off the Chiswick High Road, near the Roebuck. Obviously intending to highlight the flurry of activity taking place on Chiswick streets from the new council contractor, the sign managed to annoy local people by making a grammatical error.

One local resident who contacted ChiswickW4.com was unimpressed with the the sign. "I think they can do better than this. We trust the Council with our children's education and the grammar here is incorrect", she commented.

A spokesman for Hounslow Council said: "That's what you call a singular error. We've got so much improvement and repair work happening on the roads in Hounslow, clearly we've got a bit carried away with our plurals. We'll get the sign changed."
