Southfield Lib Dem councillors have announced that the suggestion of the Southfield Park Triangle Residents Association (SPTRA), to create up to twenty additional parking spaces has been successful.

Over the years rules governing double yellow lines had been applied inconsistently and some reserved parking spaces were no longer required.

After a lengthy process involving site inspections with Council officers and ward councillors as well as a formal consultation a number of small changes will be made which in total will see increased parking spaces in Greenend Road, Hatfield Road and St Georges Road area.

Councillor Andrew Steed said: "This was a great initiative by SPTRA, their persistence has produced results as the road markings are due to be changed in the next week or two."

Also in the Southfield Newsletter, the councillors noted that Hammersmith Council has served legal notice on Thames Water relating to the Acton Storm Tanks.

Hammersmith and Fulham have served a Section 80 Abatement Notice under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 on Thames Water relating to the long running strong and unpleasant odours from the  Acton Storm Tanks.

Councillor Gary Busuttil said: "Thames Water have been given enough time to sort the issues out with its storm tanks. Thames Water have 56 days to respond. I would hope they will do the decent thing and resolve this historic problem by covering the tanks to reduce the smell particular after heavy periods of rainfall."
