Horticulturalists say this spring has been a bumper year for blossom due to a combination of high temperatures and dry conditions. The chief horticultural adviser for the Royal Horticultural Society’s Wisley garden in Surrey, declared the cherry blossom the best he has seen in five years.

However the sunny days are not set to last as the weather forecast is for rain and cooler temperatures over the next few days.

But while the sun shone local photographers were out capturing the beauty of the blossoms in Staveley Road, Bedford Park and Turnham Green.

These images from Ian Wylie and Jon Perry to remind us of the splendour in our midst.
