A bus stop on Staveley Road close to Chiswick School was hit by a falling tree this morning (8 February). And a second tree came down in the wind outside the entrance to Strand on the Green Junior School (see below).

There were no reports of anyone being injured when the tree in Staveley Road was brought down by the high winds but the lamppost on which the bus stop sign was placed was snapped in two. Reportedly the tree hit a truck belonging to Council contractors Carillion.

The stop is just opposite Chiswick School and is used by many pupils at the beginning and the end of the school day. Nearby Chiswick House has announced that it is to close to the grounds to the public until further notice.

Another tree came down in the winds between two parked cars outside Strand on the Green Junior school entrance today.

At the time of writing Staveley Road remains closed to traffic. Please send any pictures of storm related disruption to editor@chiswickw4.com.
