Not expected to reopen until Thursday due to Storm Eleanor
Chiswick House and gardens will be closed to the public today (Wednesday, January 2nd) due to the high winds currently sweeping the country. It is expected to reopen Thursday morning. Storm Eleanor has brought destruction to several areas of the country and affected transport on some train lines. Chiswick House said: We are not opening the estate today due to Storm Eleanor." The last time Chiswick House and gardens was closed was during Storm Doris when it some of the highest gusts in the country were recorded at Heathrow and Kew Gardens. During that 'weather bomb', there were at least four trees taken down by the storm. A large tree close to Chiswick School in Staveley Gardens crashed onto two parked cars and another tree fell onto two houses in Duke Road. Park Road and Hartswood Road were also affected by fallen trees. If you hear of any damage caused in Chiswick by the high
winds do let us know. Please send any pictures to editor@chiswickw4.com.
