A charity dinner and auction for St Peter’s C of E Primary School will be held on Thursday, 22 March.

Lots up for grabs include everything from a flight in a light aircraft to a pair of premium club tickets to see Spurs v Manchester City at Wembley on April 14.

Also available are mini-breaks in Wales, France and Oxfordshire, membership of private members’ clubs, fine art classes, guided wine tastings, premium tickets to School of Rock musical and two spots to watch the England cricket team beat Australia at the Oval in June.

Local celebrity, Clare Balding, has kindly offered to host a river walk for 10 and St Peter’s staff will also be doing their bit.

Miss Karen Frazer, the school’s headmistress, has pledged a full Saturday of childcare, to include games, ice cream and fun, for one lucky bidder. Reception teacher, Mrs Laura Noonan, has offered a night of bedtime stories and babysitting.

The event, which starts at 7.30pm, at London Auctions, Chiswick High Road, will raise much-needed funds for a new playground for the children.

Tickets cost £15 each, include a delicious curry dinner and are available from the reception at St Peter’s C of E Primary, which was rated ‘Outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted last year.

There will also be a bar selling cocktails, wine, beer and soft drinks and a disco.

Plans for the new playground, which incorporate ideas put forward by the school’s 210 children, include two large climbing areas, a sports pitch made of artificial grass, a canopied structure for the children to sit, read and play board games beneath and a science area where plants and mini-beasts will be encouraged.

The full costs of the works will be £65,000, of which £45,000 has already been raised by the school community.

Organisers are hoping that Thursday’s auction will raise at least £10,000 and works are due to commence on the playground over the Easter Holidays.
