The popular Italian restaurant, Strada has closed its branch on Chiswick High Road.

The ten staff are being offered positions in other branches ranging from central London to Richmond.

A staff member said;" We're very sad to leave Chiswick and a lot of our regular customers are very upset."

It is understood the staff were told the news about two weeks ago.

Strada, which is owned by the Tragus group, served regional Italian dishes from pizzas to risotto and grilled meats and fish.

The chain was set up in 2000 and bought in 2005 by the Richard Caring group which then sold it to Tragus in 2007, a group whch owns nearly 295 restaurants including Cafe Rouge, Belgo and Bella Italia and is backed by Blackstone private equity group.
