Super Saturday of Sport is back!

The popular community event will go ahead on 6 July on Turnham Green, with a new organiser at the helm.

Following a decision to halt last years event due to lack of sponsorship, Sarah Morton at One Body Clinic in Chiswick stepped in to organise the event.

The event will take place in its usual spot on Turnham Green, 10:30am-3:30pm.

Over 20 different sports will be involved, including football, tennis, netball, skate boarding, martial arts, dance, and more, for all ages to try. Super Saturday hopes to inspire young people to find their sporting passion. The event is free of charge and will include a 1 km race around the Green for the whole family, organised by Park Run.

All are welcome to have a go at new sports, enjoy some food or bring picnics, and have fun.

A Physiotherapist by profession Sarah said the benefits of life long physical activity start in childhood. She is has made it her mission in the last year to make sure that the event takes place and is even bigger and better than ever. Sarah and the Super Saturday volunteers want the event to encourage children to try out different sports, to encourage fun, fitness and participation. The event is also a showcase of the local sports clubs who work so hard to promote sports participation in the community.

“We would like to thank our sponsors Brentford FC and EcoWorld and all our sponsors and supporters - without whom this event couldn’t happen”

Kirsten Lonsdale, (above) who first started Super Saturday of Sport in 2013, said last year : “I am so pleased and excited that Super Saturday will continue. The event has been my driving passion for 5 years and I was deeply saddened at the thought it may never happen again. Chiswick and all of its sports clubs deserve a day like Super Saturday and I am so grateful to Sarah for stepping forward and taking it on.
