Twelve-year old Sophie Dyson has made it through to the National Grand Final of singing competition TeenStar. She will now perform in the Grand Final within The O2 in London in July.

Following her performance at the Area Final last week (May 18th), the judges commented; "A distinctive rasp in your vocal - your expression was good; an overall very impressive performance."

Sophie began her singing career at a very young age and released her first single on iTunes when she was aged 10 years old. In the same year she won first place in the talent competition at The Bedford Park Festival. She is also a keen cricketer and has helped fundraise for charity. Last April she performed in front of 600 people at the Grosvenor House at the Daisy Ball to raise money for the Anthony Nolan charity.

TeenStar is a national talent competition which searches for the UK’s best teens and pre-teens singers, singer/songwriters, rappers and vocalists of all genres who perform either covers or original material. Previous winners include Birdy, who has collaborated with Mumford & Sons and Hatty Keane who has performed alongside Ed Sheeran and Tinchy Stryder. Thousands of younsters entered the nationwide competition.

The TeenStar competition is divided into age categories; 'Late Teens' (16-19), 'Mid Teens' (13-15) and a special category searching for the stars of tomorrow; the Pre-Teens!
