Many Chiswick residents have found themselves with time on their hands to explore new pursuits and interest is growing in participating in the University of the Third Age.

The nearest branch to W4 residents is the Hammersmith and Fulham U3A (University of the Third Age), part of the national organisation providing an outlet for individual interests and talents for the retired and semi-retired. At its monthly
meetings the various Group Leaders detail activities in the coming weeks and these are aimed to appeal to the active, the not so active and those who just want to have fun.

There are play readings, theatre visits (sometimes at reduced prices), a film group showing newish and old favourites, walks and visits to lesser known parts of London with (of course) stops for coffee and lunch. At Armchair Travel you can reminisce about past holidays and plan new ones and perhaps enhance the experience by joining the French and Spanish language groups. You can discover new authors at the monthly book group, exercise the brain at bridge , scrabble and current affairs discussions or just socialise at the coffee mornings, lunch and supper groups. At Arts and Crafts you can knit, crochet do patchwork and quilting with other enthusiasts while at wine appreciation you can try out wines available in your local shops.

The annual subscription is just £20, or £25 if you prefer to receive communications by post. Or why not try us out for £2.50 at our next meeting. They meet every 2nd Tuesday of the month at St Mary's Church Hall, 2 Edith Road London W14 9BA (2 stops from Hammersmith Bus Station). They start at 10:30 so try and arrive a little before that. After the business of the day and a tea/coffee break (50p) they have a guest speaker.

Whatever you decide you will be warmly welcomed.
