The Chiswick Clean Up group will be rounding off the year with their last litter picking activity for 2021 this Sunday 28 November from 2:30pm to 3:30pm around Turnham Green and the surrounding areas.

Once more this an invitation for other community minded families and individuals to come along and join this well-established monthly litter picking team led by Jill Spencer (Local Environmental Champion) and alongside local councillors.

This weekend the team wants to highlight the work being done individuals to clear up their immediate areas as the issue of falling leaves once again dominates the street cleansing conversations.

They believe the issue is especially urgent on the smaller residential roads around Chiswick. There are roads that are often not on the main routes and are not swept regularly by the council. A leaf sweeping schedule advertised on Hounslow Highways website. However, roads such as Linden Garden have yet to be visited by a professional Cleansing Team.

Chiswick Clean Up intend to play a part in supporting the residents of Linden Garden this weekend by adding them to their walk route.

Cllr Ron Mushiso said, " We can't promise we will complete the sweep of the entire road given the time constraint and equipment but we will certainly one or two of will be there to help as much as we can.

"There have been email exchanges with Hounslow Highways about Linden Gardens but so far an exact date for professional sweep has not been confirmed. It remains treacherous given the character of the road with several basement flats and narrow slippery staircases."

The team hopes to recruit enough volunteers this Sunday to carry out its normal duties around the green in addition to the drive help on Linden Gardens.

Equipment is provided but individuals can bring their own.

Refreshments will be provided as always inside the Christ Church at Turnham Green.

Meet outside Christ Church Turnham Green if you'd like to join in.
