An unusual course is being held at St Michael's Elmwood Road in which vegan cooking can be enjoyed while people explore christianity. Spearheaded by vicar, the Rev Martine Oborne, the Vegan Alpha course will start on 26 September.

It will be held on Tuesday evenings (7.00-9.15pm) and it offers people the chance to explore the Christian faith and enjoy lots of plant-based cooking.

Martine comments: "Although I'm not totally Vegan myself, I've been trying to eat a mostly plant-based diet for a year now and feel all the better for it. My motivation for doing this in the first place was to see whether it might make a difference to the dreadful eczema and psoriasis I've suffered with for three decades. Amazingly, after three weeks, my skin was completely better and has stayed clear since.

"Also, of course, following the Christian faith over the last twenty years ago has had a huge impact on my life. Again for the better!

"At each session, we'll be watching a beautifully shot film (with footage from all over the globe) - that looks at one aspect of the Christian faith. Then we'll break into small groups to discuss and ask questions. The course isn't designed either to provide answers or to 'make you a Christian' - but to give people the opportunity to ask questions and explore in a totally unpressurised way.

"We'll be using our lovely new Church kitchen to prepare the food and so we'll run the course at the back of the Church.
