The Chiswick Christmas Lights have been officially switched on for this year.

Local councillor Paul Lynch was MC for the event last night (Nov 27) which was attended by the Mayor of Hounslow, Clr Corrina Smart, and was preceded by carol-singing sung by primary schoolchildren from St Mary's RC School.

The ceremony was held outside the George IV pub, which provided mulled wine and mince pies as refreshments.

Fuller's, who sponsor the event, provided the traditional shire -horses which proved a popular attraction for children.

And tonight, 28 Nov from 4.30 to 7.30pm, there will be a special ‘Fire Garden’ event run by Watermans at Brentford Lock which will warm up the cockles on a winter’s evening.

Cllr Steve Curran, leader of Hounslow Council, said: “The Christmas lights switch on at Chiswick says to me Christmas is coming and the fire garden event is a another opportunity to celebrate booming Brentford.”

Additional Christmas lighting has been provided this year in Chiswick along Devonshire Road up to Glebe Street and on Chiswick High Rd between Chiswick Lane and Goldhawk Road with the extra cost being covered by the council.
