Conveniently located between the City Barge and the Bulls Head pubs Strand on the Green Sailing Club has an unbroken tradition of over 60 years.

The dinghy fleet sails every Sunday and, fully supported by a safety boat, courses range from Isleworth to Waterloo.

The view from the river always offers a fascinating and changing perspective, and the unique combination of tides, winds and the occasional rowing eight add interest to any race.

The club now has a few openings for new members, there is a boat that can be hired and practice races to develop your skills. The club website www.strandsailing.org.uk has a full calendar of sailing and social events.

People interested in this local experience should come down to the river and join in, or get in touch via the web site.

Founded in 1946 Strand on the Green Sailing Club has a small but enthusiastic sailing membership. Every summer the club has a weekend away, based at Gins on the Beaulieu River. Boats usually sail across the Solent to the Isle of Wight. Races provide entertainment for drinkers outside the Bull's Head and City Barge pubs. Currently sailed at Strand, in order of popularity are, Lasers, Enterprises, Solos, a Pico, and the club boat - a Gull, which can be hired out for £5 at race times.

Any dinghy is welcome if space is available, and members are happy to advise on suitable boats for the river.
